My Story

I was born in Tabasco — like the spicy sauce — with roots that run deep through Veracruz and Chiapas. In my veins flows the spirit of the center and south of Mexico: Olmec, Maya, and Aztec.

Growing up, I always felt a calling for something bigger. As a gay man, I dreamed of living in a place where I could fully be myself — and that place, for me, was Mexico City.

Love took me there. And for a while, it was everything I had imagined. I lived just two blocks from the Ángel de la Independencia, in the heart of the city, surrounded by energy, opportunity, and freedom. Professionally, I was working in a multinational company, managing corporate accounts in one of the most modern buildings in the city. On paper, everything was perfect.

But then, one night changed everything.

At a New Year’s party in Polanco, I met a DJ — talented, magnetic, and completely in love with what he did. Later, during one of our conversations, he asked me a question that stayed with me for years:

“What are you passionate about?”

I didn’t have an answer.

Growing up in Mexico

In Mexico, many of us don’t grow up chasing passion — we grow up chasing stability. That question haunted me, quietly, until life answered it for me.
Once again, love led me somewhere new — this time, to the Yucatán Peninsula.

I still remember the flight from Mexico City. I was reading about Celestún, a surreal biosphere filled with pink flamingos, and thinking: this can’t be real. But it was. And when I arrived, something shifted inside me.

First, I lived in Campeche. Then I moved to Mérida — the White City. It felt strangely familiar. My mother used to tell me stories about her youth there, about family we never found. Somehow, I felt like I was reconnecting with something that had always been mine.

Life wasn’t perfect. My first business in the region failed. Relationships ended. Plans changed. But something else began.

Through weekends exploring hidden cenotes, quiet beaches, ancient ruins, and colorful towns with a close friend who is a tourism professor, I fell deeply in love with Yucatán — not as a tourist, but as someone who truly discovered it.

At the same time, friends from around the world would visit me, and I naturally became their guide. Showing them this place became my favorite thing to do — sharing secret spots, feeling the sun, swimming in cenotes, walking through history, and yes… enjoying life in a speedo under the Caribbean sun.

That’s when it clicked.

This is my passion

And so, I created Mérida Gay Tours — not just as a business, but as a statement.

At the time, many people told me it wouldn’t work. That Yucatán was too conservative. That LGBTQ+ tourism didn’t exist there.

But I wasn’t trying to follow the path — I wanted to help create it.
I wanted to build a space where gay travelers could feel safe, free, and truly connected to the destination. A space where luxury, authenticity, and identity could coexist.

So I stayed. I built it. And I became part of that change.
Later, life brought me again to Playa del Carmen — a place that had already captured my heart once before. I remember one night clearly, standing on a rooftop overlooking the sea at La Santanera, realizing how deeply I was connected to this region.

Today, I live between Mérida and the Riviera Maya, close to the ocean, doing what I love. Love stories may come and go…

But the love I feel for the Yucatán Peninsula is forever.

And now, I’m here to share it with you.
